No Health Insurance for Professional Footballers!
From Real Madrid to Al-Nassr FC,
millennials follow world football from top to bottom. However, very few people
know the Bangladeshi football team Rahmatganj MFS, though the difference in
quality, intensity, and technique of playing football between international and
local teams is enormous. A fan of any international team will not be able to
relate to the style of play of any local clubs. Aside from that, millennials
are admirers of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, or any established foreign
player. Still, it is a root of remorse that most millennials do not even know
professional football players in their own country.

I
share the gym with a professional football player from Rahmatganj MFS. Consequently,
I had a long conversation with him regarding several aspects of our country's
football; I complained to him that players do not give their best when playing
for their clubs. In response, he revealed that they do not have health
insurance and are inadequately compensated; they do not have exclusive
gym facilities, so he must go to a neighborhood gym for his fitness. He also
mentioned that even if he is injured while playing football in a
competitive match, he must take care of himself independently.

After
speaking with him, I recognized that if things continue as they are, it will be
impossible for us as a nation to shine in the field of football. Apart from
that, we cannot hold the clubs responsible for the current scenario.
Football-related activities rarely generate revenue for club administration. If
I specifically refer to Rahmatganj MFS, they lease the field as a cattle
market on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha and use the proceeds to run the club.
